SEPT-ILES, Quebec: Two people were killed and three others injured in a helicopter crash on Quebec’s North Shore on Wednesday.
Quebec provincial police confirmed the deaths of a man and a woman, adding three others were transported to hospital with serious injuries.
Police spokesman Claude Doiron said the injuries were not considered life threatening.
Rescue teams were dispatched to the remote area about 40 kilometres north of Sept-Iles, Que.
The craft crashed in a heavily forested area not accessible by road and firefighters and paramedics managed to get to the crash site by helicopter.
The Transportation Safety Board said it will investigate the circumstances of the crash of the Bell 206 helicopter.
Three TSB investigators will conduct an inspection of the wreck on Thursday and collect information from the site before supervising the removal of the craft for a more complete analysis.
Police said five people were aboard the privately-owned helicopter _ four passengers and the pilot.
The identities of the victims were not released by authorities.
The helicopter left Sept-Iles airport early Wednesday and police said they received a call about the crash at 9:45 a.m.
