Regina: The Honourable Andrew Scheer, Leader of Canada’s Conservatives and of the Official Opposition, issued a statement regarding the government’s settlement with Vice-Admiral Mark Norman:

“Vice-Admiral Mark Norman gave 38 years in service to our great country. He served with honour and distinction, even in the face of a disgusting smear campaign at the hands of Justin Trudeau and the Liberal government.

“There are serious and credible allegations that the Trudeau government politically interfered in Mr. Norman’s prosecution and trial. Now, after the smear campaign failed to implicate Mr. Norman, taxpayers are on the hook for a secretive settlement to make one of Trudeau’s biggest political problems disappear before an election.

“Canadians deserve transparency. They deserve to know how much they’re paying to make Trudeau’s political problem go away.

“Therefore, I call on Justin Trudeau to immediately disclose the settlement amount and waive the non-disclosure agreement. Anything less than full disclosure would amount to a cover-up.”
