Vancouver (June 11, 2014) – Calling someone just to say hi, buying a stranger a coffee or holding the door open for someone are some of the little things that can make someone’s day brighter. That’s the spirit of TD’s twentieth annual “When you give a little, they get a lot” campaign for Children’s Miracle Network. For one month, starting today, TD employees across the country, including those in British Columbia will come together with customers to host local fundraisers in support of regional children’s hospitals across Canada like BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

“Just about each and every one of us either has had a direct connection to a children’s hospital or k nows someone who has – and that’s what makes this campaign so important to TD employees and customers,” said Tim Hockey, President and CEO, TD Canada Trust. “For 20 years, we’ve been proud to support Children’s Miracle Network, and this year we hope to inspire even more Canadians to do the same – it often takes just a little to make a great impact.”

Did you know?

 BC Children’s Hospital is the province’s only full-service, pediatric acute care hospital

 In 2013, BC Children’s Hospital had over 230,000 visits from over 85,000 patients

 68% of patients at BC Children’s Hospital are from outside the City of Vancouver

This year, TD employees in British Columbia will participate in the campaign by doing one great thing whether big or small for BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, such as raising funds through baseball tournaments and jelly-bean-guessing contests, or hosting barbeques and in-branch activities – because regardless of the size of your contribution, the impact is significant. Throughout June, TD customers in British Columbia can also get involved by making donations at their local TD Canada Trust branch. Canadians are encouraged to join the Twitter conversation by following @TD_Canada, @CMNCanada, @BCCHF and #TDKids

Funds raised for BC Children’s Hospital Foundation will go towards treatment, specialized equipment, research and critical programs for the sick and injured children treated every day at BC Children’s Hospital. To date, close to $60 million has been raised for the Children’s Miracle Network by TD customers and employees.
