Suspicious fires in Mission and Abbotsford keep firefighters on their toes

Abbotsford/Mssion: The Abbotsford Police Department’s investigation into the 5 suspicious fires which occurred April 16-18, 2014 is continuing. Major Crime detectives, Forensic Identification Unit members and Patrol Division officers are still diligently working on gathering information and evidence.
Early in the week 3 suspicious fires occurred in the neighbouring jurisdiction of Mission. Investigators do not believe that these fires are connected to the Abbotsford incidents.A homeowner in the 33700 block of Bowie Drive found his front porch on fire. The homeowner quickly extinguished it with a garden hose. Down the street, another residence was observed to have fire damage. A short distance away, a trailer parked in the 8500 block of Doerksen Drive was also damaged by fire.A suspicious person was reported in the area a short time before the fires occurred. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161. If anyone locates discarded materials such as accelerant containers they are asked to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225
