Surrey: Serena Vermeersch, a 17 year old Asian female, who was missing since September 15 night is the deceased person whose body found in suspicious condition in the area of the 14600 block of 66th Avenue of Surrey September 16 night, Surrey RCMP confirmed.

Investigators are saying that the death remains suspicious. They are continuing with an extensive neighbourhood and video canvass. The Surrey RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit remains as the lead on the investigation. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow morning and investigators expect to learn more about the nature of death through the autopsy.

Serena Vermeersch was reported missing on September 16. Investigators have identified that Serena was last seen getting onto a transit bus on the corner of 64th Avenue and 128th Street at approximately 8:10pm on September 15. Investigators are looking to speak to anyone that may have been on that bus and saw Serena or would have seen her disembark the bus.

Additionally, officers are looking to speak with a male seen on the railroad tracks at 66th Avenue and Hyland Road between 5:00pm and 7:15pm who was seen departing in a grey or silver pickup truck. No description is available of this male; however, investigators believe he may have additional information to provide.
