Surrey: The Surrey RCMP now has an alternate way for citizens to report less serious offences with their new online crime reporting system. Surrey detachment receives over 286,000 calls on its emergency and non-emergency lines each year. The ability for Surrey residents to report less serious crimes online will allow call takers and frontline staff to focus on the higher priority calls, which will improve overall safety and response times in the city.Surrey residents and business owners with a valid email address can use the Surrey RCMP’s online reporting tool to report a crime“No matter how small an offence might be – a broken window or something stolen from your car – we want to hear about it, as it helps our officers understand the scope of crimes that are occurring,” says Surrey RCMP Office in Charge Supt. Bill Fordy. “We also understand that people are becoming increasingly mobile, and we want to make it easy for people to report crime. ”For more information on the Surrey RCMP’s online reporting system or to make a report, visit www.surrey.rcmp.ca and click on “Online Reporting” under “Report a Crime”.
