VANCOUVER: A stranger who kissed a CBC journalist on the cheek while she was on live TV has apologized.

Megan Batchelor says 17-year-old Daniel Davies reached out to her in a direct message on Twitter to identify himself and say sorry.

Batchelor was reporting from a music festival in Squamish, B.C., north of Vancouver, Friday when a stranger came up from behind, kissed her on the cheek at the same time as he took a picture of the event.

She reported the incident to the RCMP and has received a barrage of online attacks in response.

Davies told Batchelor that in the moment, he thought the kiss was a joke, but now sees it as a mistake.

The reporter says she has accepted his apology and hopes it will make people think twice about interrupting journalists while they work.
