Cloverdale: Surrey RCMP is advising the public of the seizure of suspected drugs, cash, and guns which took place at residence in the Cloverdale area.

On June 24, Surrey RCMP responded after a member of the public reported hearing what they believed was gun shots at a residence in the 19400 block of 71A Avenue. Police were able to determine that the sound which generated the original call to police was as a result of fireworks.

Although there were no shots fired, police continued their investigation and obtained a search warrant for the residence.

As a result of this search warrant, police located and seized a sawed off shotgun, several bags of suspected marijuana, 30 vials of testosterone, various firearm ammunition, a Taser, brass knuckles and pepper spray.  Approximately $21,400 in cash was seized from the residence as well as a large quantity of a white powdery substance, which will be tested to determined if it is an illicit drug.

Charges have not been laid at this time as the investigation is on-going.

“This is an example of the importance of reporting information to the police,” says Cpl. Elenore Sturko. “A person took the time to make a report, and although the initial findings were of fireworks, the subsequent investigation has resulted in the seizure of multiple weapons, cash and drugs.”.
