Abbotsford: IHIT has laid second degree murder charge against 24 year old Jimi Sandhu for the murder of Matthew Campbell.  Jimi was arrested in early this week in Vancouver. Campbell was allegedly stabbed by Sandhu Jan 2 at a mall in Abbotsford. Both Jimi and Matthew were known to police.

CFSEU-BC investigators and IHIT investigators worked in tandem on this case and were able to make a quick arrest in the case, which they believe is not a random attack.

Campbell had attended funeral service for Jonathan, one of the Red Scorpions Ganga leader in Langley in August 2011 and is believed to have taken over the leadership of the Red Scorpions. In past, Campbell was among 10 people who were charged for gun trafficking. Upon his arrest, 100 guns were seized, including military assault rifles, sub machine guns and fully automatic handguns.

Jimi also has crime history dating back to 2009 when he charge but later acquitted of trafficking in Abbotsford in 2009. He has other convictions for theft under $5,000 and breach of probation. Next in 2011, he was charged with kidnapping but charges were stayed. He has been convicted on two counts of assault with a weapon — one in Vancouver and one in Abbotsford — and got a day in jail and credit for 31 days served in May 2012.
