U.K. fraud office and India’s CBI probing

New Delhi: All deals with Rolls-Royce in future would remain on hold till the pendency of the CBI probe into contracts worth nearly Rs.100, 000 million, Defense Ministry sources said.

The CBI probe into allegations of bribes by Rolls-Royce in contracts with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) came within weeks of the arrest of two arms commission agents in Britain by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO). Under the scanner of the SFO are all the Rolls-Royce’s dealings in Asia.

Rolls-Royce has a major presence in India since 1932, supplying engines for fighters like British Jaguars, newly-acquired aircraft like Brazilian VVIP Embraer Legacy jets and American C-130J ‘Super Hercules’ as well as naval and Coast Guard fast-patrol vessels.
