Richmond RCMP Officers are investigating an incident that occurred February 28, 2018 at the Richmond Public Library located at 7700 Minoru Gate. The library is believed to have been hosting a large community event in the early evening hours.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m., a male suspect is alleged to have kicked a staff member, knocking her to the ground. The suspect fled on foot and is currently outstanding.

The victim, a woman in her early 60s, was not seriously injured.

The suspect is believed to be:

  • Asian male in his early to mid-thirties
  • Clean shaven
  • Black puffy ¾ length winter jacket
  • Dark pants
  • Dark Converse style sneakers
  • Wearing glasses and possibly carrying a blue backpack

“We are looking to swiftly identify, locate, and arrest this suspect,” says Corporal Dennis Hwang. “The suspect may be unrelated to the community event and may possibly be a regular at the library or the surrounding area.”

“We know there were many potential witnesses that will have valuable information to share with us. Anyone with information as to the identity of the suspect or his whereabouts is asked to contact us immediately.”
