Surrey: Progressive Intercultural Community Services Society’s (PICS) signature annual event, 9th Mega Job Fair and Business Expo became one of the largest job fairs in Metro Vancouver after recording a whopping 4,700 attendees and 102 exhibitors.
Held in North Surrey Recreation Centre on Thursday August 4, 2016, the event witnessed long line ups as job seekers waited their turn to go in. The exhibitors were kept busy all day accepting resumes, discussing their businesses and conducting on the spot interviews.
“I am extremely pleased that PICS was able to connect thousands of job seekers with quality employers. True to it’s mission, PICS is working hard to serve the community and the credit for this m ust be given to PICS Employment Programs who have worked tirelessly to organize this event,” said Charan Gill, CEO of PICS.
Talking about the event Satbir Cheema, Director, PICS Employment Programs and Planning said, “Our team organized a mammoth event that brought together more than 100 businesses from every sector enabling thousands of job seekers to talk directly with HR personnel to preview different jobs and careers, and at the same time allowing businesses to showcase their products and services to develop new business opportunities. The feedback from exhibitors and attendees was very positive and we are extremely happy about it.”

A number of exciting door prizes were given at the event and these included a 55 inch LED TV sponsored by Surrey businessman Manjit Litt, a 32 inch LED TV sponsored by Lone Wolf, a laptop sponsored by PICS Board, two tablets sponsored by Gennix Consulting Inc. and Tinku Parmar of Knowledge First Financial respectively, an iPAD sponsored by Dr. Charan Gill, an HD Box by Shaw Cable and a $2000 English pronunciation package and many more door prizes by Best Buy, the White Caps and Vancity.
