17 year old driver is cooperating with investigation
On May 2nd at approximately 2:00pm, Surrey RCMP responded to a pedestrian motor vehicle collision in the 8200 block of 128th Street. Upon attendance, officers learned that a male pedestrian was crossing the roadway east to west, not in a crosswalk, when he was struck by a black Acura travelling southbound on 128th Street in the right-hand lane. The driver, a 17 year old Surrey male, stopped immediately and is cooperating with police. Drugs or alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the crash. The victim was taken to local hospital by emergency health services in critical condition and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Traffic was closed in the area for some time and multiple witnesses have been interviewed. The Surrey RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) with the assistance of the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team (ICARS) is investigating.
