As 2015 quickly draws to a close, it’s time to start thinking of resolutions and look ahead to the new year. Considering going back to school? You’re not alone.

Information released by Statistics Canada revealed that in 2014 nearly one in four people aged 15 and over who hold a university degree, reported going back to school and completing an additional credential (certificate, diploma, or a new degree). The same report showed that the employment rate was higher among those who completed further post-secondary studies, compared to those who completed their education and did not return at a later date.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) offers a range of courses and certificates, citations, diplomas, degrees, and apprenticeship training for learners at any stage of their educational journey. With a variety of programs in seven distinct faculties—business, arts, health, design, trades, science and horticulture, and academic and career advancement—there is something for everyone. Or try Continuing and Professional Studies where you can take a range of courses, seminars, and customized training that allows you to continue your education, upgrade specific skills, or discover something new.

Unsure what it is you want to study? Statistics Canada’s research showed that nearly two out of five people who did complete an additional post-secondary program, chose the same field of study as their highest degree.

There is a clearly documented relationship between education and employment. The newly released 2014-2024 Labour Market Outlook predicts that over 75% of the job openings to 2024 will require some form of post-secondary education or training. The Labour Market Outlook also highlights trends that show there will be opportunities in all industries, regions, and sectors of the BC economy over the next decade, with over 60% of new job openings in the next 10 years located in the lower mainland.

With four campuses in Metro Vancouver—Richmond, Langley, Surrey, and Cloverdale—KPU is never far away. The university is committed to supporting students throughout their entire education—from application to graduation.
