NDP Leadership race has two contenders now – Mike Farnworth and John Horgan

Vancouver: After Port Coquitlam MLA, Mike Farnworth announced his decision to contest for the B.C. NDP leadership early this month, John Horgan (Juan de Fuca) has also entered the race.
Juan de Fuca MLA John Horgan launched his bid for the B.C. NDP leadership from his home constituency. Former NDP leader Carole James, the MLA for Victoria-Beacon Hill was on hand to introduce Horgan to the enthusiastic crowd. Neighbouring Vancouver Island MLAs, NDP Caucus Whip Maurine Karagianis, MLA for Esquimalt-Royal Roads and Bill Routley, NDP Deputy Forest Critic and MLA for Cowichan Valley joined Horgan and James on-stage.Team Horgan will be co-chaired by David Eby, the MLA for Vancouver Point Grey who defeated Premier Clark in her home riding in May, and Michelle Mungall, the MLA for Nelson-Creston. NDP is going to choose its new leader in September. In the 2011 Adrian Dix won the NDP leadership election Mike Farnworth took second place, while John Horgan came in third. Next name we might see in the leadership race is of Victoria-Swan Lake MLA Rob Fleming.
