Surrey: Nina Grewal, MP (Fleetwood-Port Kells) and Steven Blaney, Minister of Public Safety, met with community leaders to discuss federal government’s progress to strengthen the safety of our communities.

“It was a pleasure to discuss the work being done to lower crime, ensure the rights of victims, and make our communities in BC safer places to live and raise our families,” said Grewal. “Our government is working hard to protect Canadians and that is why discussions like this are important.”

Minister Stephen Blaney said, “Our government is taking strong action to crack down on crime and keep our streets and communities safe. We have introduced and passed a wide array of laws to ensure better protection of Canadians from violent and repeat offenders, protect the vulnerable people in our communities, including our children, and provide victims of crime with a stronger voice in the justice system.”

“We must not rest on our laurels and we must continue the fight against crime and take action to crack down on dangerous criminals in order to ensure that our communities become more safe and secure to live, work and raise families,” concluded Grewal.
