May 9 declared as National day of Honour 

Ottawa: Last batch of Canadian Armed has come back after wrapping up Afghan mission. 12 years ago in 2001, Canada had deployed its largest military contingent to the region. Over these 12 years, 40,000 army personal were deployed of which 158 soldiers died fighting. While addressing the 94 men and women of Canadian Armed forces who returned from Afghanistan, Harper declared a National Day of Honour on May 9, when the Canadian Forces’ service and sacrifice in Afghanistan will be commemorated.
