Komagata Maru anniversary remembrance event held at Burrard Inlet

DSC_0095Vancouver: On May 23rd 1914 Komagata Maru arrived in Vancouver but 355 passengers were not allowed to disembark from the ship due to the racist policies of the then government. Komagata Maru Heritage Foundation organized a function at Masqueam First Nations Museam in Vancouver on May 23 to commemorate DSC_0099the 100th anniversary of the arrival of the ship. A day before the 100th anniversary a trip in Burrard Inlet where Komagata Maru was not allowed to anchor 100 years ago was also organised by the Foundation.
