Surrey: RCMP has arrested 23 year old Donovan Adams following the sexual assault of a nine year old girl on August 27. On August 28 officers with the Surrey RCMP’s Special Victims Unit arrested Donovan Adams in the City Centre area. After an extensive and intensive investigation over the weekend Adams has now been formally charged with the following offences: Kidnapping, Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference, Indecent Act, and Break and Enter.

“The excellent work by our Special Victims Unit assisted by additional officers in our Major Crime and Investigative Services units along with our Forensic and Video forensic teams led to this investigation progressing as quickly as it did,” says Surrey RCMP Supt. Trent Rolfe. “The Surrey RCMP would like to thank the community for their continued support and cooperation in this investigation. This file remained a top priority for our detachment as we understood the concern the community had regarding public safety since this incident.”

On August 27 night a Surrey mother reported to police that her daughter had been abducted from her bedroom in the family home at the home in the 9900 block of 128 Street, where she was sleeping then sexually assaulted and left alone in a nearby yard.

Police investigators learned that victim girl was lured out her open bedroom window by the suspect. Suspect took the girl to a nearby park where it is alleged that she was sexually assaulted. Later the girl fled to her residence and sought help from her mother. The girl was taken to the hospital where she will be cared for by medical professionals.
