Canuck Place DonationSurrey: The Fraser Valley Real Estate Board on behalf of Fraser Valley Realtors has donated $12,000 to the Canuck Place Children’s Hospice – Dave Lede House in Abbotsford.

The Canuck Place Children’s Hospice was established in 1995 and offers pediatric palliative care for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families which includes medical respite care, pain and symptom management, expressive therapies, end-of-life care, as well as grief and loss counselling – all at no cost to families.

The donation will be used to purchase a Pedicraft Canopy Bed. These beds are specially designed for children with safety and comfort in mind, equipped with adjustable mattress options while also able to support necessary medical equipment.

“Our region is growing, and the demand for specialized care is greater than ever,” said Gopal Sahota, President of the Fraser Valley Real Estate. “Fraser Valley Realtors are proud to support Canuck Place and the incredible work they do providing a home and care to children and their families in the most difficult of situations.”

Over the last year, Canuck Place has cared for more than 715 children and families with over 40% of patients residing in the Fraser Valley.

“We’re so thankful for the support of partners like the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board,” said Canuck Place CEO, Margaret McNeil. “This generous contribution will directly impact Canuck Place families as we expand our services at Dave Lede House this year. Together we will be there for families in need here in the Fraser Valley and all across BC.”

The Canuck Place Children’s Hospice raises 60% of its annual operating costs so it relies on donations to keep their doors open at no cost to families on program. If you would like to make a donation to Canuck Place or learn more about their work, visit www.canuckplace.org.
