Speedball!

Pure competition and that will to win dominates Ford v Ferrari. Like the titles suggests this 20th Century Fox drama focuses on a contest between two automotive giants. Based on a true story this high-octane drama is now winning over audiences at select Cineplex Cinemas and Landmark Theatres around B.C.
You don’t need to be an auto nut or speed freak to be enthralled by this James Mangold effort. Off we go back to the 60s to see how an upstart at the Ford Motor company decided to take on Ferrari at their own game with a little help from his friends. Actually, not his friends. The man from Ford enlisted the help of top car man Carroll Shelby and the rest, as they say, is history. And corporate intrigue. And fun.
Matt Damon leaves all his Jason Bourne heroics behind to build a special driving machine able to take on the Italian stallions (no not Sylvester Stallone) at the famed Le Mans 24-hour Grand Prix circuit. To get the job done Shelby turns to not so by the book driver Ken Mills to pilot a slam-bang new auto jewel. Up to the challenge is Christian Bale (Batman) whose need for speed is second to none. Too bad the rough diamond is not everyone’s cup of tea.
Superb tension, corporate shenanigans, dynamic performances and a never say die attitude make Ford v Ferrari must see entertainment. Exciting race track footage Breezes by in this never a dull moment 2 1/2 hour movie that will keep you glued to your seats in rapt attention throughout. Start your engines!
