Fiji to get $20.1 million from PNG

Suva: Fiji is getting monetary support from Papua New Guinea toward preparations for the 2014 General Election. A MOU was signed between the countries.
Pio Tikoduadua, The Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, who signed the agreement, said the assistance was provided in the true Melanesian spirit and it would contribute towards helping Fiji make the transition to Parliamentary democracy through the country’s first truly democratic election.

The first payment of $6 million will be made at the end of this month to the Elections Office. A total of $20.1 million will be given by Papua New Guinea to Fiji for the democratic exercise.
