Winnipeg: Brian Sinclair’s family has decided not to proceed with inquest. Brian died while waiting for treatment in ER.
Brian’s cousin and the family spokesperson Robert Sinclair has said that family does not believe that truth is going to come out following the inquest. Lawyers and aboriginal groups supporting the family believe that the parameters set up by Judge Timothy Preston are too narrow in scope. The case of medical neglect goes back to 2008. On Sept.19 Sinclair went to the Health Sciences Centre’s emergency room because he had not urinated in 24 hours. He did not receive any help for 34 hours he was there. Sinclair was a double amputee and he died in his wheelchair waiting for medical attention. Later it was found that he died of treatable bladder infection caused by a blocked catheter.
