Surrey: Gurjyote, the star chef from India is here in Surrey. His last assignment was as Executive Chef for Vivanta by Taj Dal View, Srinagar, Kashmir. We are proud to introduce this very talented chef to our community. Gurjyote’s culinary journey started in 1999 and over the years he has gained appreciation for his culinary art. Carrying an extensive experience of over 15 years in the hospitality Industry and he has been associated with leading hotels like the Hyatt Regency New Delhi, Marriott Welcome Hotel, Fusion (Multi cuisine food Joint) Self Owned, Crowne Plaza Gurgaon by (IHG), and Aman Resorts New Delhi, The Claridges Surajkund (Now Vivanta by Taj Surajkund).
Talking to Asian Journal, Gurjyote spoke about his journey from the days when he started as Kitchen Trainee with the Hyatt Regency New Delhi in 1999 while pursuing Culinary Diploma. Gurjyote was felicitated as the Chef of Year at Hyatt Regency New Delhi for year 2000.
His desire to excel the culinary horizon was fulfilled when he trained at
specialty kitchens. By the time training finished he had acquired hands on expertise in European, Mediterranean, Indian, BBQ Grills, Theme cooking, Modern contemporary cuisine. Gurjyote has traveled around the world to explore his passion in culinary skills, and spent a short span of time working for restaurants in Europe. He has also delighted his guests with thematic cuisines at their destination weddings and now he is in Canada for good. We are happy that he chose to make Surrey his new home and work base. When asked about his plans for Surrey, Gurjyote said he is in process of setting up a unique food service with his partner, Harry Sandhar here in Surrey. It will be called, ‘Zest, kitchen on the move’.
