Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is gearing up to celebrate Canada Day at not one, but two great community events. The university will be present at both Surrey Canada Day celebrations in Cloverdale, and Richmond Canada Day, taking place in historic Steveston.

If you’re heading to Surrey, say cheese and strike a pose in the photo booth. Celebrations get underway at 10:00am, with live entertainment, giveaways, and activities scheduled throughout the day. The free, family-friendly event culminates with a fireworks display at 10:30pm.

Spending the day in Richmond? KPU has got you covered. Come say hi, enter to win prizes, and learn more about everything the university has to offer. The Richmond Canada Day street party starts bright and early with a pancake breakfast at 6:30am, followed by a special flag raising ceremony (8:40am), and a parade beginning at 10:00am. The evening will also be capped off with a fireworks show at 10:15pm.

With campuses across the Southern Fraser Region, including both Richmond and Cloverdale, KPU’s deeply connected to the local community. Home to 120 diverse programs, including degrees, diplomas, certificates, and citations, KPU emphasizes hands-on skills and applied learning experiences as the country’s only polytechnic university. Several of KPU’s programs are unique and can’t be found elsewhere, like the brewing diploma, the only one of its kind in BC, while others are one-of-a-kind within North America, like the urban ecosystems bachelor of horticulture science.

Many KPU programs include work experience terms, co-operative education options, and practicums, allowing learners to develop their skills in real-world settings while exploring career options and building a professional network. With a maximum of 35 students per class, individuals are engaged and supported throughout their journey—from application, to graduation.

Learn more about everything KPU has to offer at both family-friendly Canada Day events. Each celebration is free and open to the public. To see more about these, and other upcoming events KPU will be attending, visit kpu.ca/futurestudents or contact the Future Students’ Office at study@kpu.ca
