Canada’s Kathy Gannon injured, another foreign woman journalist killed in Afghanistan

Kabul: Kathy Gannon of Timmins,Ontario was injured in a shooting incident while Anja Niedringhaus, 48 was killed in the attack. One Afghan National Police (ANP) officer fired at two female foreign journalists in Tanai district of Khost province. Both were working for the Associated Press (AP) and covering the transportation of election material to the district, and the attack took place inside the district governor’s office building, the official added.
The attacker was captured following the shooting and an investigation has been launched into the incident, the source said.
The incident came ahead of the presidential and provincial councils elections in this South Asian nation Saturday.
