The marriage was being held at a banquet hall. The bride was from Sarinh village while the UK-based groom belonged to a village near Mehatpur. Both families were celebrating right after the wedding ceremony when the groom’s behavior aroused suspicions of the girl’s family. He had been going to the washroom frequently and later, fell off his chair. The girl told her brother that she suspected the groom to be a drug addict and refused to go with him. Her brother supported her and so did their relatives. When the groom’s family and relatives objected, she asked them to make the groom undergo a medical examination. Eventually, the groom left without the bride.
