Body found in the water by Richmond RCMP

Richmond: On March 10, shortly before 8 a.m., Richmond RCMP officers responded to the area of the 7000 block of Dyke Rd for a report of a male in the water.

The victim, a male in his early seventies, received first aid at the scene and was transported to local hospital by the BC Ambulance Service. The victim was later pronounced deceased.

The circumstances surrounding his death are deemed suspicious and the Richmond RCMP is investigating along with assistance from the BC Coroner’s Service.

The victim is a Richmond resident and is not known to police.

“The Richmond RCMP Serious Crimes Unit (SCU) is taking the lead in this investigation. Investigators will be continuing their examination of area around the 7000 block of Dyke Rd for any clues surrounding this incident,” says Corporal Dennis Hwang.”

“We are asking for the public’s assistance for any information regarding this incident. If someone drove, cycled, or walked in this area and noticed anything around the morning of March 10th, please contact our Serious Crimes Unit,” adds Corporal Hwang.
