THERE is speculation about the identity of the man whose body was recovered on Wednesday afternoon from the Fraser River in Richmond near the Fraser Wharves car import depot that is next to SilverCity on Steveston Highway.

The man is believed to be in his sixties and reports say he’s possibly South Asian. His body was recovered by the Coastguard’s hovercraft, working with Richmond RCMP.

A Surrey RCMP spokesperson said that the name of the man would be released by the B.C. Coroner’s Office after an autopsy.

Last week, Surrey RCMP had requested the public’s assistance in locating Joginder Mander (see photo) who was last seen by a family member on the morning of October 7 in Guildford and has not been heard from since that day.

Mander is described as a 64-year-old South Asian male, 5’8″, 170 lb, with brown eyes, and grey hair. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a black hoody, a white T-shirt and dark track pants.
