Langely: Andre Harvey Richard has been arrested in the Southeast corner of British Columbia.
At approximately 9:30 (Pacific Time) this morning, RCMP received a report of an erratic / possibly impaired driver near Fernie. The complainant was able to follow the suspect until the vehicle came to a stop.
Richard exited his vehicle and went into the roadside bush. A crisis negotiator was called and local police attended – after some time, Richard was taken into custody without further incident.
Langley RCMP Serious Crime Investigators are preparing to travel to Cranbrook to follow through on the investigation.
The Report to Crown Counsel will be completed later this afternoon and submitted for charge approval. It is anticipated formal charges will be laid within the next 24 hours.
