Surrey: MP Nina Grewal visited the offices of Green Timbers Heritage Society to meet with students employed under the Canada Summer Jobs Program and to witness first-hand the important work they perform.
“The Canada Summer Jobs Program is providing students with a tangible opportunity to gain work experience and that provides them with a pathway towards a good job after completing their education,” said MP Grewal. “Through this program $9 million has been invested into Surrey since 2006 and this year 88 jobs were created in my riding alone,” she said.
Grewal added that the Canada Summer Jobs Program provides $107.5 million annually across all 308 federal constituencies to generate student employment opportunities. Since 2007, the program has created over 260,000 jobs for students, including 35,000 this summer.
