Gmail_logoNew Delhi: All the users of Gmail accounts better buck up to secure their accounts from hackers. Alarming news has been released by the Russian Hackers. Users are advised to visit “https://isleaked.com/en.php” to check if their account has been compromised, reports TOI.

As many as 4.93 million Google email IDs and passwords have been leaked by Russian hackers. In addition, these IDs and Passwords are the same for all the Google products like Gmail, Drive, Google Plus, YouTube, and Maps.

A user named Tvskit posted account details on the Bitcoin forum btcsec.com, where he said that approximately 60 percent of the passwords are still active.

However in a blog post, Google denied the claim and said that only 2 percent of the passwords are working and that its automated anti-hijacking systems have blocked many of the login attempts.“We have protected the affected accounts and have required those users to reset their passwords,” it read. It also said that this accident was not due to the breach of its own systems.

Cautioning users, Google said they should ensure they use a strong password unique to Google and update recovery options, so that they can get the information on e-mail or phone in case they get locked out of their account.

“Often, these credentials are obtained through a combination of other sources. For instance, if you reuse the same username and password across websites, and one of those websites gets hacked, your credentials could be used to log into the others. Or attackers can use malware or phishing schemes to capture login credentials.” added Google.
