JONATHAN Leblanc, 30, of Delta was charged on Tuesday with robbery and assault with a weapon in relation to the alleged incident that took place at the TD Bank on Sunday evening.

Vancouver Police said that their investigation into the collision on Victoria Drive, the attempted car-jacking on Victoria Drive and the car-jacking at the Esso Gas Station are ongoing.

The alleged crime spree across the Lower Mainland started in Richmond. At around 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, Richmond RCMP officers came across the scene of a motor vehicle collision which had occurred in the area of Highway 91 and Highway 99. Two vehicles were involved in this collision. The three occupants of the first vehicle reported that they had been hit by another vehicle while travelling on the highway. The occupants who sustained minor injuries were transported to hospital and were later released.

Police located the second vehicle involved in the collision at scene but there was no driver present. Police thus investigated this matter as a hit and run collision.

While the police investigation was ongoing, Richmond RCMP officers were dispatched to a nearby residence where a resident had been stabbed after answering his door. The investigation revealed that a suspect had stabbed the resident multiple times before stealing his vehicle and fleeing the scene. The resident was transported to hospital where he was in stable but serious condition.

Richmond RCMP said on Tuesday that the hit-and-run collision and the assault with a weapon at the Richmond residence may be linked.

AROUND 7 p.m. on Sunday, a man was withdrawing money from the automated teller machine (ATM) at the TD Canada Trust Bank located at Kingsway Avenue and Victoria Drive in Vancouver when he was attacked inside the bank. The victim was stabbed several times and was robbed of his money. He received superficial stab wounds and was treated by paramedics.

Moments later, a car travelling southbound on Victoria Drive at 27th Avenue, less than two blocks from the bank, was involved in a head-on collision. The car in that collision had been stolen in the earlier home invasion in Richmond.

The driver from the stolen car attempted to car-jack another vehicle that stopped to assist with the collision. Both the driver and front passenger in that car, a husband and wife, received slash wounds as the suspect hacked at them through the open driver’s window, while their children, aged seven and 10, remained in the back seat. The victims were able to escape by driving away. The man and woman in the car were treated in hospital.

The suspect then went across the street to the Esso Gas Station at Victoria Drive and Kingsway Avenue, car-jacked a Honda Civic and drove off.

SHORTLY after 11 p.m. on Sunday, the man believed to be responsible for the series of violent robberies in Richmond and Vancouver was arrested with the assistance of the RCMP Police Dog Service, after police in Surrey located the stolen Honda Civic that he had been allegedly driving.
