22 year old pedestrian dies after being hit by a vehicle at 156 Street and Fraser Highway bus stop of Surrey

Surrey: RCMP is currently at the scene of a serious collision at 156 Street and Fraser Highway between a Jeep and a pedestrian.

At 9:30am this morning Surrey RCMP were called to the intersection of 156 Street and Fraser Highway. A southbound black Jeep was making a left turn onto Fraser Highway when it mounted the curb on the south east corner. A pedestrian sitting on a bench at the bus shelter was struck by the Jeep.

The pedestrian, a 22 year old male, has died as a result of his injuries. The driver of the Jeep, a 17 year old Surrey woman, sustained minor injuries and is cooperating with police. The cause of the collision currently is under investigation, however weather may have been a factor.

Eastbound traffic on Fraser Highway from 156 Street is closed while investigators from the Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) and the Integrated Collision And Reconstructionist Service (ICARS) analyze the scene.
