Pedestrian struck by vehicle succumbs to injuries
Vancouver: A North Vancouver woman has died as a result of being struck by a vehicle on Thursday, May 31 while crossing the street at the intersection of West 3rd Street and Fell Avenue, North Vancouver. A 49 year-old male, who was also walking across the intersection at that time, was struck by the same vehicle.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. when both pedestrians were crossing Fell Avenue on foot, westbound on West 3rd Street. A vehicle which was turning left onto Fell Avenue on a green light from West 3rd Street struck the two pedestrians in the crosswalk.
The 57 year-old female pedestrian, a North Vancouver resident, was taken to the local hospital with serious injuries and has since died as a result of those injuries. The other pedestrian, also a North Vancouver resident, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The lone male driver of the vehicle, a 71 year-old North Vancouver resident, remained at the scene of the collision. Police continue to investigate the cause of the accident and are reminding both motorists and pedestrians to exercise extra caution at controlled marked intersections.
