kis kis ko pyar karoAbbas Mustan’s KIS KISKO PYAR KAROON, the debut film of comedian KAPIL SHARMA, is the toast of the nation and eagerly awaited all over the world and regardless of its fate at the box-office, the film has generated interest amongst all ages as it released on September 25th. Though no threat to any KHANS, Kapil Sharma arranged a special screening of the film for Shahrukh Khan and the team of DILWALE in Hyderabad and Salman Khan has asked for one too, while Aamir Khan is busy shooting for his new film DANGAL in Ludhiana, Punjab. With charges of plagiarism against Abbas Mustan and many comparing Kapil Sharma’s role to that of Sanjiv Kumar in PATI, PATNI AUR WOH, no news is good or bad for Kapil’s debut film but one thing is for sure that all Kapil fans will make it a point to watch his first film and with Lata Mangeshkar tweeting for Kapil and Bollywood luminaries praying for his success, it’s a foregone conclusion that KIS KISKO PYAR KAROON will have a bumper opening. Kapil himself has been promoting the film all over India and trade analysts are predicting the film to be a hit as well and with Elli Avram, Manjari Phadnis, Simran Kaur Mundi & Arbaaz Khan in supporting cast, Kapil’s debut film could very well become his first HIT film as well!

Madhur Bandarkar’s Calendar Girls Banned In Pakistan!!!
calendar girlsMADHUR BANDARKAR is well-known for his hard hitting realistic films and from CHANDNI BAAR to PAGE 3 and TRAFFIC SIGNAL to FASHION, his films have always generated criticism and interest from different quarters but few doubted that his latest would create such a buzz as not only the film was delayed for various reasons, the latest is that it has been banned by Pakistani Govt. over certain comments made by a Pakistani model in the film which did not go well with the censors over there. Madhur had to make few cuts in his film as some of the racy dialogues and nude scenes were objected to by the Indian censor board and with many Kingfisher models in the film and comparisons to liquour baron Vijay Mallya, the CALENDAR GIRLS is certainly the talk of Bollywood and it’s to be seen if this attempt of Madhur Bandarkar would get the nod of approval like FASHION or rejection like JAIL but irrespective of the fate at the box-office, CALENDAR GIRLS would certainly be a hot topic to discuss for some time as it opens this Friday all over!

Court Goes To Oscars!!!
courtMany were predicting BAHUBALI or BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN to get India’s nomination in the Foreign Film category for Academy Awards, however, Amol Palekar and the rest of the selection panel decided to go for National Best Film award winner Marathi film COURT instead and already many are lauding the bold decision. It’s to be noted that Amol Palekar’s directed PAHELI had made the cut many years back but it was rejected in the very first round and now that Amol Palekar led team have chosen this small budget Marathi film, many are sincerely hoping for better results because it’s been very frustrating for India for quite some time and the last time a glimmer of hope was created was way back in 2000 when Aamir Khan’s LAGAAN made it to the last 5! All predictions came crashing down as Nikhil Advani’s film KATTI BATTI with Kangana Ranaut & Imran Khan was rejected at the box-office. Kangana, who’d been riding high aftter the success of QUEEN & TANU WEDS MANU RETURNS, could not produce the same charm and many are pointing fingers to the unlucky Imran again! All eyes are on this week’s releases of Kapil Sharma’s debut film of KIS KISKO PYAR KAROON, Madhur Bandarkar’s CALENDAR GIRLS and Kunal Khemu-Zoya Morani’s BHAAG JOHNNY and it’s to be seen how they’ll perform at the box-office. 34th Vancouver International Film Festival started with a bang and there’s quite a buzz as India’s 31st OCTOBER, UMRIKA & TANA BAANA will be screened at the festival though without doubt, Deepa Mehta’s BEEBA BOYS will hog the limelight. 4th Annual Mushtari Begum Festival of Indian Classical Music is on Saturday, September 26th at New Westminster’s MASSEY Theatre while NAAD FESTIVAL is on Sunday, September 27nth at Surrey Arts Centre and with that it’s time to say good bye but not before reminding you all to watch this week’s YAADEIN celebrating the 86th b’day of LATA MANGESHKAR JI on Sunday, September 27nth at 1 PM on SMC # 116!
