kabali-759Kabali fever is spreading like wild fire all over India as the 65-year-old Rajinikanth’s new film started with a bang on July 22nd. Releasing in over 4,000 theatres in Tamil, Telugu & Hindi, Kabali had made Rs.200 Crores before the release and with the movie being shown around the clock in Mumbai, Bengaluru & Chennai, this number would swell very high. In an unprecedented move, several companies in Chennai & Bengaluru had declared holiday on July 22nd to let Rajini fans see the film on the release date and the very fact that Kabali teaser had 22 million views on you tube is a clear indication of Rajinikanth’s fan following. From planes to telecom companies, Brand Rajinikanth is all over and from Pizza stores to T-Shirt companies, all are cashing on Rajini’s fame and craze. Produced by Kalaipuli S.Thanu & directed by Pa Ranjith, it’s perhaps the biggest release of any Rajinikanth film and besides Tamil Nadu, Karnataka & Andhra Pradesh, record 306 screens in Kerala showed the film. In an unprecedented move, Five Star hotels in Bengaluru screened the movie for their guests and needless to say that most of them were booked solid. Will it be Rajinikanth’s biggest film ever! Hard to say but the very fact that Kabali fever has spreaded all over the world with frenzied scenes in Malaysia, Singapore, America, Canada & Australia, it’s safe to say that it’ll be one of the biggest Indian film ever and yes, Rajinikanth’s Kabali has Radhika Apte as his heroine.

Irfan’s Madaari could be a surprise hit!

irfan_sm_fb_650_051016084450Irfan Khan is one of India’s most admired actor and with Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan & Kangana Ranaut showing up at the well-attended premiere, it clearly shows that he’s well respected in Bollywood as well. Produced by Irfan himself, the film has been getting great reviews all over and it seems that Irfan has scored a hit with his maiden venture. Last week’s release of Great Grand Masti failed to elicit any response or even provide any competition to Salman Khan’s Sultan, which has already crossed Rs.500 Crores worldwide and has been declared a blockbuster hit all over. With singer, composer & actor Ayushmann Khurrana making his first appearance in Vancouver on Sunday, July 24th, this week’s Yaadein features him and others like K.L. Saigal, Talat Mahmood & Kishore Kumar as it highlights ‘Singing Stars’ in Hindi Films on Sunday, July 24th @ 1 PM on SMC#116. Enjoy and I’ll see most of you at the Orpheum Theatre on Sunday, July 24th!
