Vancouver: A five-hour standoff with a barricaded male has ended without incident. The incident unfolded at approximately 7:00 pm on April 15, in the 1500 block of Dovercourt Road, North Vancouver. Neighbours in the residential area reported to police observing seeing a male enter the home which on April 13, received extensive fire damage. The home was deemed to be uninhabitable.

When police attended the residence they were met by a 44 year-old male that stated that he would not leave the home and verbally threatened to shoot the police with a weapon he had in his possession.

The Lower Mainland Combined Forces Emergency Response Team was activated and attended the location. At approximately midnight, after lengthy negotiations with the barricaded male, he was arrested without incident. There were no injuries as a result of the standoff. The male is reported to be the son of the homeowners, who were not at home at the time. The male was held in police custody and will appear in court today on various related charges. The incident is still under investigation.
